No accounts, minimal data
DesignWall doesn't have user accounts, logins, or profiles. We don't ask for your name or email. We don't use tracking cookies or browser storage to identify visitors.
- 2
What we store
When you place a bid, we store:
- the destination URL and, if provided, the GitHub handle you submit;
- the bid amount and a timestamp;
- a one-way cryptographic hash of the secret token used to prove ownership of a square — we cannot reverse this hash back into your token;
- an aggregate click counter for each square.
This information — including the destination URL, bid amount, and square number — is displayed publicly on the wall by design.
- 3
Payments
Payments are handled entirely by Polar, our payment processor and merchant of record. Polar collects whatever billing information is required to process your payment (such as email and card details). We never see or store your card details. See Polar's Privacy Policy for how they handle that data.
- 4
Third-party requests
To display a square's image, your browser may request it directly from GitHub (for GitHub avatars) or from Google's favicon service (for site favicons). These requests reveal the destination URL's hostname or the GitHub handle to that third party, along with standard request metadata like your IP address, governed by their own privacy policies.
- 5
Hosting
Application data is hosted on Supabase (Postgres). Our application code runs on Vercel. Both may log standard infrastructure data (like request IP addresses) for operational and security purposes.
- 6
Data retention
Bid history is kept indefinitely to maintain an accurate, auditable record of the wall — this is also why payments are never reversed silently. If you'd like a square's public information removed, contact us; we can't verify ownership without your secret link.
- 7
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we don't collect names or emails, most requests will relate to a specific square you bid on — please include your secret ownership link so we can locate it. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children
DesignWall is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age stated in our Terms of Service.
